Sarah M. Schregardus, Esq.
Sarah Schregardus graduated cum laude from the Capital University School of Law and was admitted to the Ohio Bar. While in law school, she served as an extern for the Hon. Greg Frost of the U.S. District Court of the Southern District of Ohio.
After her admission to the Ohio Bar, Ms. Schregardus served as a Assistant Public Defender with the Office of the Ohio Public Defender, in its Post-conviction and Appellate/Legal Division. In 2009, she began working in Prison Legal Services Division at the Corrections Reception Center, where she gained experience in defending felony offenders charged with parole violations and in post-release control by the Adult Parole Authority. She also represented inmates, before the Ohio Parole Board, at contested Open Full Board Hearings.
Ms. Schregardus has argued in 11 of the 12 Ohio appellate districts, the Supreme Court of Ohio, and the U.S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals. She has extensive litigation experience with criminal appeals, and post-conviction actions. She also has across the board knowledge of most legal matters that affect offenders who are held in the custody of the ODRC (Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction).
In 2010 Ms. Schregardus opened her private law practice in Columbus serving as counsel to Kura & Wilford Co., L.P.A. In February 2013, Ms. Schregardus formed a new partnership with Kura & Wilford, becoming Kura, Wilford & Schregardus Co., L.P.A. She also serves as Co-Chair of the Public Policy Committee for the Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, lobbying alongside Mr. Wilford in this capacity. She has also been voted a “rising star” by Super Lawyers 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018.
Ms. Schregardus is licensed to practice in all Ohio courts, all Ohio federal district courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the U.S Supreme Court. She is a member of the Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (OACDL) and the Ohio State Bar Association. She also serves on the OACDL board of trustess on behalf of the Ohio Justice Alliance for Community Corrections (OJACC).
